Gemma Boon has been qualified physiotherapist for 15 years, 10 of these years working solely within the field of paediatrics. She has experience of working with adults and children with physical, neurological and learning difficulties. Gemma has gained experience working with the NHS across a wide range of both hospital and community settings.
Gemma’s key achievements in recent years has been completion of the 8 week Bobath course which is a highly respected course run by a charity that treats children and adults with neurological impairments.
Gemma’s current NHS role involves providing specialist assessment and treatment of children from ages 0-19 with complex difficulties. She completes both individual and multidisciplinary assessments on a regular basis. She is often involved in the assessment of children referred for early intervention due to prematurity or high risk birth factors.
Gemma’s role means that she has extensive understanding of the equipment that is required for 24 hour postural management. She is regularly involved in gait assessment with an Orthotist and makes decisions regarding the most suitable management through treatment plans and orthotic use.
